October 1999: a new compilation from Prefab Sprout, who wouldn’t release another studio album until 2001…

Thirty-eight tracks spread across two CDs. The first collects the singles, while the second features other standout songs.

It’s a chance to get the debut single, Lions in My Own Garden (Exit Someone), on this format… but not the second one! Swoon is better represented than it was on Life of Surprises (4 tracks), while Protest Songs fares only slightly better (2 tracks). The then-recent Andromeda Heights gets a healthy 5 tracks, but it’s Steve McQueen that unsurprisingly dominates with 8. So… we already know everything here, don’t we?

Well, not quite! Right at the end of the second disc is a previously unreleased track: the theme tune to the British TV series of the same name, Where the Heart Is. A short, delicate and nostalgic piece.

Eh bien non ! Tout à la fin du deuxième disque se cache un inédit : le générique d’une série anglaise qui porte le même nom que la chanson, Where the Heart Is. Un court morceau, délicat et nostalgique.
