One of our favorites (along with a few others) of the past decade, Woods put out an EP in 2024 that we somehow missed, and also a single — if you can even call it that — in 2025… all released digitally. It’s perfectly delicious, exactly the kind of thing we love around here: it smells of the sixties, there’s that old folk-rock backbone nursed on The Byrds (timeless favorites), there’s the small imperfect and fragile voice — human, endearing, cracking in all the right ways — and the melodies, my friend, the melodies… pure beauty.

If this were a 45, the A-side would be absolutely top-notch, but we’re going to focus on the B-side: a full-band version of a song that was originally almost just voice and guitar, taken from Bend Beyond, their 2012 album and one of the band’s high points. That way, you get to hear both versions. Their music makes you happy to be alive.

Chouchous (avec quelques autres) de cette dernière décennie, Woods a sorti un EP en 2024 qu’on avait loupé, mais aussi un single, si j’ose dire, en 2025… le tout en version numérique. C’est parfaitement délicieux, tout pile comme on aime ici : ça sent les sixties, il y a le vieux fond folk-rock biberonné chez The Byrds (chouchous intemporels), il y a la petite voix imparfaite et fragile, humaine, craquante, et les mélodies, mon coco, les mélodies… beauté.

Si on avait affaire à un 45 tours, la face A serait totalement top, mais on va s’intéresser à la face B : une version avec le groupe entier d’une chanson presque juste guitare-voix tirée de Bend Beyond, album de 2012 et un des sommets du groupe. Comme ça, on écoute les deux versions. Leur musique rend heureux d’être vivant.
