You know, all this reminds me: those crazy lads from Happy Mondays named one of their tracks Donovan. There too, they were tripping hard on acid, and Shaun was even dating Donovan’s daughter at the time. We’re right in the middle of Madchester, 1990, and even if the production has aged a bit, it’s still a thrill to see some Brits trying to groove… And we love that NME cover (my English teacher at high school put it on my desk: “Here, read this!” “Yes, sir!”)—what a bunch of madmen, those guys! And Kurt Cobain in a little insert on the left… the Nirvana wave was about to hit the world, ha ha, and we got to see it live!

Tiens, ça me fait penser à tout ça : les affreux jojos d’Happy Mondays ont intitulé un de leurs titres Donovan. Là aussi, ils prenaient des acides à fond, et Shaun sortait même avec la fille de Donovan à cette époque. On est en plein Madchester, 1990, et si la prod a pris un coup de vieux, ça fait toujours plaisir de voir des Anglais qui essaient de groover… Et puis, on adore cette couv’ du NME (posée sur mon bureau par mon prof d’anglais au lycée : « Tiens, lis ça ! » « Oui, m’sieur ! »), quelle bande de dingues, ces mecs ! Et Kurt Cobain en encart sur la gauche… la vague Nirvana s’apprêtait à s’abattre sur le monde, ah ah, dire qu’on l’a vue en direct !
