The peak of the band’s career lies between 1969 and 1971. Two very different albums: Stand! in 1969, packed with hits, still with one foot in gritty R&B and the other stepping toward the funk of the future — catchy, melodic, already political… and There’s a Riot Goin’ On in 1971, with its downbeat mood, heavy on cocaine, and a lot murkier.

Today, let’s focus on the upbeat, poppier side: Everyday People — which also gives us a chance to listen to Arrested Development, a 90s rap group largely forgotten today, but quite charming in their own right, in a style of hip-hop that’s now completely out of fashion.
