Alright, folks, that’s all well and good, but here we are… I — we! — have released an EP (short for extended play, meaning 4 or 5 tracks, as opposed to an LP, long play, a full album…).

So, 5 songs, 15 minutes… Nature, life, and death.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sorcières, inspired by the folk horror film The Witch, and thematically also by Witches by Cowboy Junkies (witches calling from afar, temptation…)

Après Giono, because after Giono, how is it even possible to describe nature anymore?

Song for Mimi, a tribute to Mimi Landry, a New Orleans-born English teacher, a light and ghostly presence in the world, infinite kindness, unforgettable memories, Audubon Park, spring 2020…

Orphée, a tribute song to Murat, lyrics with a medieval flavor, repetition of the word « amour » (love), and a chord progression partly (just a little bit, really!) borrowed from the Auvergnat.

Orcival, another tribute song to Murat, written before his burial, later turned into a bossa because, well, there’s some Brazilian influence floating around the Sancy area too…

Thank you Éric for bringing all of this to life with guitar, banjo, and bass parts… imbued with a perfectly natural West-Coast feel; Blanche for the innocence of a youthful voice and that authentic American credibility; Philippe for trying to keep up with the fluctuating tempos; and François for the professionalism! Benoit for the visuals!

Orphée, chanson-hommage à Murat, paroles au goût médiéval, répétition du mot amour comme il aimait le faire, progression d’accords en (toute petite hein !) partie chipée chez l’Auvergnat

Orcival, rechanson-hommage à Murat, écrite avant la sépulture, transformée ensuite en bossa, parce que des influences brésiliennes il y en a aussi autour du Sancy…

Merci Eric d’avoir illuminé tout cela de parties de guitares, banjo, basse… dotées d’un feeling West-Coast tout à fait naturel, Blanche pour l’innocence d’une voix juvénile et la crédibilité US, Philippe pour tenter de rattraper le coup de tempos fluctuants et François pour le professionnalisme ! Benoit pour le visuel !
